Anonymize text before you paste it into ChatGPT
Personal details are swapped for consistent placeholders like “Person 1” and “Email 2”, so the AI can still follow who is who without seeing who they are.
How it works
- Step 1
Paste the email, document or notes you want help with.
- Step 2
Personal details become placeholders as you type. Turn on AI to catch names too.
- Step 3
Copy the anonymized text into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.

Why bother
What you paste into an AI chat is stored by the provider and, depending on your settings, may be reviewed or used for training. Customer, patient and colleague details don’t need to be in it.
The AI still understands
Each person, email or number gets its own placeholder and keeps it throughout the text, so answers still make sense.
Doesn’t leak on the way
Anonymizing happens in your browser. Nothing you paste here is sent anywhere.
Questions
Is it safe to paste personal data into ChatGPT?
It depends on your account settings and your organisation’s rules, but the safest data to share is data that isn’t there. Replacing details with placeholders removes the question.
Will ChatGPT still understand my text?
Yes. Placeholders are consistent, so “Person 1” is always the same person, and the structure of your text stays the same.
Does it work with Claude, Gemini and Copilot?
Yes. The output is plain text you can paste into any assistant.
